Poppe Braam

Founder & CEO

DID-IT

From organic pioneer to global trader—and back to the farm. Poppe Braam has spent more than four decades helping shape the organic movement from the ground up. After studying sociology, he started farming organically in 1980, long before it became mainstream. He launched the organic grain packaging and distribution initiative Skuorre, helped establish one of the first poultry farms producing EKO eggs, and later founded DO-IT Dutch Organic International Trade in 1990 to expand the availability of organic raw materials across Europe and beyond.

What began as a mission to “complete the range of organic ingredients” grew into an internationally recognized import and export company built on close relationships with farmers and processors worldwide. After handing over DO-IT in 2020, Poppe returned to where it all began: the farm. At De Braamstruik in Nijkerk, he and his team now support organic start-ups and regenerative initiatives—from biodynamic bull calves and mobile hen houses to beehives and international projects, including the conversion of Malaysian palm oil plantations. For Poppe, it’s a full circle: from farm to fork—and back to the farm again.
